After finishing “Come una notte a Bali” by Gianluca Gotto, I couldn’t resist diving straight into another one of his works: “La pura vida“. There is something magnetic about Gotto’s writing, a unique ability to transport you to distant places while also making you reflect deeply on your own life.
“Come una notte a Bali” had already captivated me with its immersive storytelling and the way Gotto describes the Indonesian island not just as a tourist destination but as a place of rebirth and inner transformation. The book is a journey within a journey, a discovery not only of exotic landscapes but, above all, of oneself. After finishing it, I felt the need to continue this inner exploration, and “La pura vida” was the natural next step.
In “La pura vida“, Gotto takes us to Costa Rica, but once again, the real journey is the one within. The concept of “pura vida,” a typical Costa Rican expression that embodies an entire lifestyle of simplicity, gratitude, and presence in the moment, is explored with a delicacy and depth that makes you reflect on what it truly means to live a full and authentic life. I greatly appreciated how Gotto intertwines his personal experiences with universal reflections, making the book not only an enjoyable read but also a prompt to reflect on one’s own life path.
After reading these two books, I am convinced that I will continue to explore the literary universe of Gianluca Gotto. His ability to inspire and provoke thought through stories of travel and life choices is something I want to keep discovering. Gotto doesn’t just write about places but about souls and experiences that profoundly change how we see the world and ourselves.
