FRIENDS – 10 years laughing

Absolutely could not miss a post about these magnificent characters, who made me laugh, dream and reflect on many aspects of life.

A sitcom that started on September 22, 1994 and closed, after 10 incredible years, on May 6, 2004 in the USA, arrived in italy on June 23, 1997 on Rai 3.

A series (unfortunately) ended, consisting of 10 seasons with a total of 236 episodes, each of them funny and exciting.

Producers David Crane and Marta Kauffman, in a recent interview done for a cast reunion, said that the idea for FRIENDS was born inspired by their personal life experiences, which as young New Yorkers, they had found themselves living at a young age, in a metropolis, full of opportunities but also disappointments, in which good friends became their family.

The six main characters, (from left in the photo) Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Joey and Phoebe, are 6 friends who live in New York and spend their lives sharing everything with each other, like one big family. In which of course there is no shortage of, quarrels, loves, laughter, loneliness and sometimes difficult living together.

I give you a brief introduction about the characters:

  • Monica Geller (seasons 1-10), played by Courteney Cox.
She is a young cook, Ross’s sister, full of neuroses and obsessions, and a control freak and rule freak.
  • Chandler Bing (seasons 1-10), played by Matthew Perry.
He is an accounting analyst, composed and precise, wry, sarcastic, and always with a quip. He is known for not being very successful with women.
  • Rachel Green (seasons 1-10), played by Jennifer Aniston.
She is a spoiled rich girl who decides to break out of her father’s control. Former schoolmate of Monica and teenage crush of Ross.
  • Ross Geller (seasons 1-10), played by David Schwimmer.
He is a paleontologist, Monica’s brother, divorced and a lifelong lover of Rachel.
  • Joey Tribbiani (seasons 1-10), played by Matt LeBlanc.
Handsome guy of Italian descent, aspiring actor, tireless playboy and Chandler’s roommate.
  • Phoebe Buffay (seasons 1-10), played by Lisa Kudrow
She is an orphaned, eccentric and expansive girl with peculiar and unconventional ways. She works as a masseuse and cultivates a hobby of music.

I assure you that, although a bit dated as a sitcom, it will glue you to the chairs and you won’t be able to do without it. Beware that right now it is available on NETFLIX, so you may get to indigestion of episodes, as I assure you that you won’t want to turn it off until you can see for yourself (because unfortunately now you know) how it ends.
